Learning 4 Earning (Youth Guarantee)


LfETime to make your move?

Youth Guarantee is a FREE government initiative to support more young people to achieve NCEA Levels 1 & 2 and to transition young people into further training at polytechnics and workplaces.

Are you aged 16 to 17 and want to train for employment or further study? (or 15 with a school exemption) Do you want to have fun while you learn?

“Learning 4 Earning (Employment Skills & NCEA)” is for you!

This free programme is focused on moving forward towards your career and qualification goals while having some fun in a less formal learning environment.

What will I be learning and doing?

When you first join the programme, we will discuss your learning needs and seek to understand exactly what you need to gain from the programme. You will engage in a mixture of whole-class activities, individual and group work, and work experience.

What qualifications will I gain?

You will have the opportunity to gain credits leading to nationally recognised qualifications, including:
  • NCEA (Level 1) (If you don’t already have it)
  • NCEA (Level 2) with a Vocational Pathway in Construction
  • National Certificate in Employment Skills
  • National Certificate in Computing (Level 2)
  • National Certificate in Driving (Level 2)
  • National Certificate in Computing (Level 3)
We will also assist you to achieve both your Learners and Restricted Drivers Licence. (Free lessons!)
 
Your key goals will be completion of your NCEA  qualification, and an outcome of moving on to higher level training with us or at the Polytechnic.

When does it start?

8 February 2013 is the start date, with graduation on 19 December 2013. (Normal “school” holidays apply)
