We survey our students as they leave our course. Here is a consecutive set of a hundred or so responses to the question “Do you think this course has helped you towards getting employment? In what ways?” (References to tutor’s names have been removed)
- I am a receptionist at a motor inn, using a computer is one of my key responsibilities. I never knew how to turn a computer on before I completed this course.
- It has allowed me to update my computer knowledge and become familiar with the MYOB system
- It has given me more self-confidence and made me realise that my age is not the barrier I have thought it would be.
- Everything down to a shop assistant is computers and now I have some knowledge and can build on it.
- I am so much more confident in my own ability to work in a workplace that is computer-savvy. I definitely don’t feel out of place anymore

- From being dormant in the workforce due to motherhood duties for 9 years, I wasn’t sure I could get my head around computers. Made me realise I can look at other work apart from cleaning

- It has given me a ‘taste and see’ of distance learning and database and excel. But not confident in these yet. The promised WINZ computer job didn’t eventuate nor was offered. It has increased my basic computer skills and given me knowledge and helped a little with confidence using a computer.

- Computer skills are a necessity in any occupation and the course has given me confidence with a computer, taken away the fear of a new technology and was enough to develop a familiarity with computers that I did not previously have.
- No! I have too many health issues to be able to get a job. But the course has been a big help with my writing. (Also I run a small writing group and of course almost all the group are computer literate). And I have appreciated the chance to complete this form – it’s a chance to do something small back after all the input from Karoro. Thanks a heap and god bless you all.
- I think that it has helped to gain a National Certificate and it will make things a little bit easier for me to obtain employment in the areas I want to work. The fact that I am lucky enough to have some previous experience already helped this course compliment that.
- My confidence levels are at an all-time high knowing I have qualifications in an interview that I gained whilst being a stay at home Mum is a great feeling. So absolutely Karoro helped me put the foundations in.

- I was a little apprehensive when I first started the level 2, the computer seemed daunting but as I progressed through each workbook I now know a lot more about what a computer and certain programs can do. It is a shame that I have to wait until August to receive more TIA from Work and Income as I would have loved to just move onto Level 3 Computing.

- Yes it does help like I said I’m too slow to know or understand a question. But the good thing is when my tutor on the internet with me that’s when she show me something that goes wrong I wish its 1 hour.

- I have achieved a qualification in Basic Computing. Most employment, in fact our world is run by a computer system (s). Technology is forever changing and for me this is a start. There is so much more to computing it is scary but this for me is a positive step of many to come.

- Yes, if I am able to get my health in order, being a hands-on foreman in construction the past decade it been a hard adjustment. But I pray I get employment after my operation, can’t say I’m happy with the health service since ACC was formed.
